At Wesgroup Equipment, we make it a key priority to support our communities and improve the environment around us. This Earth Day, we’re celebrating the progress we’ve made, and renewing our commitment to offset carbon emissions associated with the equipment industry.

For Our People: Greener Equipment Choices

Recognizing the push to move away from using fossil fuels, and the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, our family of brands offers a variety of sustainable equipment options, including battery powered and electric equipment. This equipment lowers emissions, operational costs, and maintenance costs, and performance is on par with traditional equipment options in many circumstances.

Our extensive electric equipment lineup includes forklifts, compact excavators, skid steers, aerial lift equipment, shunt trucks, trommel screens, dumpers, grinders, and more.

We continue to work with several premium OEMs to add additional electric equipment options as they become available. These OEMs include Linde, Bobcat, JCB, Konecranes, DEVELON, and Terberg.

For Our Community: Planting Seeds of Change

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our product offerings and into the heart of our communities. Our annual Plant-A-Tree campaign symbolizes this commitment. Initiated on Earth Day 2022, the campaign encourages every employee to plant a tree sapling in their backyards or local communities, fostering a direct connection to the environmental impact of our collective actions. Earth Day 2023 saw our employees sharing the growth of their trees, and in 2024, we're excited to reintroduce this initiative, offering saplings for communal planting efforts.

Our dedication to community sustainability is further exemplified through initiatives such as improving recycling processes at our branches, adopting LED lighting, utilizing recycled paper, organizing community clean-up events, pursuing paperless processes, contributing to BC wildfire relief, and facilitating electronic recycling programs.

For Our Planet: Reforestation via 10 Trees Planted Program

For every piece of equipment you purchase with us, we plant 10 trees in Western Canada.

Through this initiative, we’ve planted more than 16,000 trees so far. Once matured, each tree will provide a carbon offset of approximately 50lbs per year. The trees we’ve planted so far will grow to provide a carbon offset of 800,000 lbs per year. We’re excited to see this number grow as we continue this initiative.

Reforestation can offset carbon dioxide levels as trees mature. Reforestation efforts are also needed to restore vital communities, biodiverse wildlife habitats, and regions impacted by forest fires. We plant these trees in partnership with One Tree Planted.

As a reminder of our 10 Trees Planted program, this year we have planted a tree at each of our dealerships— a testament to our unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on our planet.
